Mattersen

About

I'm Guillaume, the founder of Mattersen and the person building Mata.

Background

I'm a software engineer with more than a decade of experience, mostly as a generalist across different problem domains. I studied formal methods and software verification to PhD level, the discipline of proving that a system behaves correctly rather than just testing that it seems to. That background shapes how I build things now, and I'd rather have a system that works reliably than one with more features.

I currently work for a local council, and I'm studying towards an accountancy qualification. I want the commercial and financial grounding to run Mattersen properly, alongside the technical ability to build the product.

Why I'm building Mata

I've had entrepreneurial instincts for as long as I can remember, and I wanted to put them towards something with clear societal benefit. Mata sits at the point where my software background meets a growing interest in embedded electronics and assistive technology.

Mata started as a personal project, because my father was affected by sight loss. The problem is real and the existing solutions fall short.
